Course context for academic year 2015-16
La asignatura ofrece las herramientas teóricas y metodológicas para que el profesional del turismo las pueda analizar y comprender el marco social más amplio en el que esta industria, la turística, se inserta. Al respecto, se presta atención a las interacciones existentes entre el subsistema del mundo turístico y los otros subsistemas sociales clave: cultural, urbano y social. Su ubicación en el segundo curso del Grado viene justificada por la necesidad de dotar a los alumnos, que previamente ya han adquirido un nivel de conocimiento en materia turística, de unos conocimientos básicos acerca de la realidad social de las sociedades avanzadas, en cuyo seno se ha configurado el turismo. En este sentido, la "Sociología del Turismo" se halla intensamente relacionada con otras asignaturas impartidas en el curso anterior y en este mismo curso: Introducción a la Geografía del Turismo, Recursos Territoriales Turísticos y Tipología de los Espacios Turísticos.
