Objetivos de las asignatura / competencias (2015-16)
This is both a theoretical and a practical course, whose main objectives are: 1) To acquire the necessary theoretical background to linguistic criticism. 2) To gain practice in "close reading" of literary texts. 3) To analyze and discuss important topics in life as reflected in literary texts 4) To master and increase literary and other learned vocabulary.

Instrumentos y criterios de evaluación (2015-16)
The final mark for "Comentario de Textos Ingleses" will be the result of the following components:


(a) a written exam on the theoretical aspects studied during the course (objective 1): 25% altogether;


(b) a written exam on the vocabulary (both from the texts and additional) (objective 2): 20% altogether;


(c) a written exam analyzing a literary text (objective 3): (45%);


(d) Moodle interactive activities (10%)

NOTES:


· All exams will be answered in English. Serious grammatical mistakes will be severely penalized and may result in the whole paper not reaching a pass mark.
· Partial exams will not be considered passed with a mark below 5. Therefore, any student with a mark below 5 in January/February will have to sit the final exam in May/June.
· No average mark will be calculated if any of the parts is below 4.5.
· No partial marks will be taken into account for December or for the following academic year.
