Clases teóricas y prácticas

This subject comprises two weekly sessions focused on Business English for banking and finance. The four linguistic skills (speaking, listening, reading and writing) will be practised in the sessions. The lecturer will introduce each of the units and will provide additional material , if necessary.

The photocopies and the book offer a number of exercises. Students will be required to prepare some of these exercises at home, to participate actively in the sessions and to use English in class. Students should also write two compositions (150 words each) about something related to banking and finance and give an oral presentation (free topic) in English in front of the other students to be able to get up to 2 points out of the 10 of the final mark.

Instrumentos y criterios de evaluación (2009-10)

Evaluación continua, examen final

Assessment will be an ongoing process taking into account class participation and there will be a written exam in January and another one in July in case of re-sits. The final mark will be calculated as follows: Written exam 80%: I. reading comprehension (14%), II. listening comprehension (14%), III. Composition (15%), IV. Vocabulary test (22%), V. Translation from Spanish into English (15%) Two compositions about banking and finance, at least 150 words each, up to 10%, to be sent via Campus Virtual to the lecturer until the day of the written exam., 15th January 2006. Oral presentation (free topic) to be given in the classroom, up to 10%, before the end of the lessons in December 2009.
