In this course, students will carry out different sorts of exercises aimed at improving their level of English. These will include: -Memory exercises (no note-taking) using the consecutive mode, as a preparation for consecutive interpreting. -Sight translation, into Spanish and into English, as a practice for interpreting skills in general. -Bilateral interpreting. -Presentations on different current issues, so that the students can improve their pronunciation and fluency in English, as well as getting used to talking in public. -Listening comprehension of speeches, news, etc. including different varieties of the English language. -Transcriptions of oral English texts. All these exercises will be first practiced from English into Spanish, but later some practice into English will be included, as this is generally one of the skills that imply a greater difficulty for the students. |
