Objetivos de las asignatura / competencias (2009-10)

The main aim of Inglés Turístico Especializado is: * to provide the students of tourism with the language skills that are necessary for their future careers in this economic sector (level b2- cerf). * to develop the student`s ability to communicate in English. * to make the student realize the different dialects, levels, registers and jargons in Tourism English. * to develop the student`s knowledge of tourism in English. * to develop the student`s confidence in English

METHODOLOGY: There will be three sessions per week. The classes will consist of task-based activities in which the students will have to put into practice their knowledge of tourism and their speaking skills. One of the sessions will be devoted to reviewing the grammar and vocabulary contents seen in previous years

Instrumentos y criterios de evaluación (2009-10)

Evaluación continua, examen final

Students will be assessed by a WRITTEN TEST, an ORAL EXAMINATION of approximately 10 minutes, the presentation of a PROJECT/PORTFOLIO and PARTICIPATION and ATTENDANCE (which is compulsory). Course work will be submitted on demand through the academic year (writings will not be corrected if the deadline is over). The student will need a minimum average of 5 out of 10 to pass the subject. None of the partial marks will be kept for the following academic year. - written exam: 60% - oral exam: 20% - project/portfolio: 10% - participation and homework: 10% (the average will not be calculated if any of the partial marks is lower than 4.5)
