Metodología docente (2010-11)
Clases teóricas y prácticas
There will be three hours of core study per week plus one hour for oral practice & presentations.
- Part 1: one hour will be devoted to GRAMMAR from a formal point of view and will cover lessons 9-18 of the book "Grammar in Gobbets". Students will be expected to prepare these lessons at home so that class time may be used to explain difficulties and clarify doubts.
- Part 2: two hours will deal with the material in the 16 Units of the book "Complete First Certificate" except the grammar, that is, reading, writing, use of English, listening and speaking exercises. The methodology implied in the construction of the sixteen units is "communicative" in the sense that it requires active participation in class practice.
- Students are expected to
1. review all the work done in the lessons by doing the exercises in the "Complete First Certificate" WORKBOOK and hand the workbook to their lecturer by the beginning of June 2010;
2. improve their writing skills during the course by writing on a regular basis. Students will be required to prepare at home two writing assignments.
The first essay is to be handed in on the "Campus Virtual" until the day of the written exam in January 2011.
The second essay is to be handed in on the "Campus Virtual" until the day of the written exam in June 2011.
The lecturer will tell the students the topics for the two writing assignments. The writing assignments may be written in groups of up to three students.

- Part 3: ORAL PRACTICE, students will attend one weekly session where they will practise their spoken language skills.
1. During the first semester there will be different debates on the topics covered in the "Complete Firts Certificate" book and students will have to attend and participate in these sessions.
2. During the second semester students will have to give an oral presentation on a topic of their choice in class. Students who do not give an oral presentation or do not pass it will have to do an oral exam in June. The presentation may be given individually or in a group of up to 3 people.
