Course context for academic year 2016-17

This subject is related to the Programming 1, Programming 2 subjects and Fundamentals of Computer first course is the first course in the sequence of operating systems and has continued in the subjects Distributed Systems and Devices and Infrastructure for Multimedia Systems, second and third year, respectively. It falls within the subject Operating Systems. The objective of this course is to provide students with the basic knowledge, both theoretical and empirical, to understand and analyze the main problems of operating systems and their possible solutions. It also teaches you to use analytical reasoning by building and solving simple computational scenarios. Emphasizing the specific problems of multimedia systems.

1 Understanding the basic problems associated with Operating System: Multiprocessing, Concurrency and resource management. Understand the organization, structure and services of the operating systems. 2. Understand the importance of planning, communication and process synchronization in multiprocessing systems. 3. Introduce the problems associated with the management of input / output, file systems and viable solutions. 4l. Analyze architectures present in the memory management.5.
