Assignments. There will be 5 problem sets. Cooperation in the assignments is encouraged, but they should be written up individually. There will be a midterm in the sixth week that will comprise the first three chapters. The final will be a three-hour exam given during exam week.
Evaluation. Evaluation will be based on a combination of the problem sets (25% of the grade), the midterm (30% of the grade) and the final exam (45% of the grade). Minimum grade to pass is 5 out of 10.
Those students with a grade below 5 will have a second opportunity in the corresponding exam period. They will keep the 20% corresponding to the problem sets.
Student evaluation of teaching. At the end of the course and before the final exam, students will fill a questionnaire to evaluate teacher’s performance in the course. This evaluation is a compulsory requirement to be graded in the course.
