Course context for academic year 2016-17
The subject "Applied Geology to the Civil Engineering" is basic training subject of second semester of the Civil Engineering degree.
It is not mandatory any previous requirement.
This subject is divided in theory, laboratory practice and field practice. All these face-to-face activities aim to give a scientific-technical base training that will allow students to develop the rest of his degree with all necessary tools to understand geological processes which have big importance in Civil Engineering.

General Competences (CG)
- CG-5 : Basic understanding of geology and soil morphology and their application in solving engineering problems. Climatology.
UA Basic Transversal Competences
- CT-13 : Capacity to adopt the scientific method when planning and carrying out different academic and professional tasks.
- CT-9 : Capacity for group work.
Basic Transversal Competences
- CB-1 : Students should show they possess and understand knowledge in a field of study that continues from general secondary education and is usually found at a level which, although supported by advanced textbooks, also includes certain aspects that involve knowledge arising from the cutting edge of their field of study.
- CB-2 : Students should know how to apply their knowledge to their job or vocation in a professional manner and should have those skills that are usually reflected when preparing and defending arguments and solving problems in their field of study.
- CB-3 : Students should have the ability to gather and interpret relevant data (normally within their field of study) to give opinions that include a reflection on important, social, scientific, ethical matters, etc.
