Course context for academic year 2017-18

Moodle, Twitter, Facebook, HotPotatoes, Exe-learning, Scorm, social networks, the Cloud and other topics are some of the main contents of this subject. Many of these "new technologies" are not really 'new', but there are definitely necessary and close to the multimedia reality we live in. The aim is to introduce the students to the use of ICT and their application to linguistics, mainly to the English Classroom. The subject is mainly practical, although the theory will help students to obtain a wider scope of the different teaching modalities and of the myriad of possibilities that ICT can offer to the English Teacher. In particular, the subject will focus on presenting different tools as learning-teaching tools in a specific teaching plan. Some of the resources that will be used are Virtual Learning Environments (Moodle), Authoring Tools (TexToys, Hotpotatoes), textual corpora (BNC), or Social Networks, mainly focusing on frequently-used freeware in the teaching-learning scenario.
