Specific Competences (CE)
- CE11 : Use the perspectives, theories and analysis techniques that are essential for constructing the theoretical framework of Forensic Linguistics.
- CE17 : Be able to elucidate the linguistic nature that distinguishes the varieties of IFE: the terminology, syntax, rhetorical organisation and communicative strategies.
- CE18 : Be able to control the idiosyncratic subtleties and cultural/social differences that are essential for interpersonal relationships in academic and professional contexts (cultural values, norms of courtesy, non-verbal communication, etc.).
- CE19 : Be able to use the communicative and discursive techniques common to most of the discourses of the speciality, which serve to achieve different communicative purposes (argument techniques, presentation description, narrative, explanation, etc.).
- CE2 : Apply the theories, models and linguistic tools that are relevant for study and research of the IFE.
- CE20 : Be able to use resources for the transmission of scientific knowledge to present the research carried out in the context of the languages of the speciality.
- CE22 : Be able to prepare effective texts in the different languages of the speciality, oral and written, in English and Spanish, according to the contextual and discursive needs and expectations.
- CE25 : Ability to use existing resources to obtain, handle, interpret, manage and transmit information: databases, written and oral corpora, Internet and the ICTs.
- CE32 : Ability to handle and assess the value of documentary resources that allow one to approach the understanding, production or translation of specialised texts correctly, from English to Spanish and vice versa.

- CG2 : Know how to apply the main perspectives, theories, techniques and analysis models in the field of interdisciplinary research of linguistics applied to the study of the EFE.

- CG3 : Ability to apply the knowledge acquired and solve problems in new or little-known settings within broader (or multidisciplinary) contexts related to the languages of one's speciality.
- CG4 : Know how to integrate knowledge and deal with the complexity of giving opinions on the basis of information that may be incomplete or limited and includes reflections on the social and ethical responsibilities associated with applying one's knowledge and opinions in academic and research contexts.

Learning outcomes (Training objectives)
- Identificación de los rasgos principales del inglés jurídico.
- Comparación del inglés jurídico con el lenguaje general desde el punto de vista comunicativo.
- Reconocimiento de los géneros principales del inglés jurídico.
- Identificación de los géneros y el lenguaje jurídico relevante para situaciones de la vida diaria y/o hechos culturales.
- Manejo crítico de las fuentes bibliográficas y autoaprendizaje del inglés jurídico.
Specific objectives stated by the academic staff for academic year 2016-17
I. Objetivos generales
1) Desarrollar la competencia lingüística y comunicativa en inglés jurídico.
II. Objetivos conceptuales
2) Conocer y dominar la terminología del inglés jurídico básica y de los campos tratados.
3) Conocer la naturaleza lingüística que distingue a las variedades del inglés jurídico: la terminología, la sintaxis, la organización retórica, y las estrategias comunicativas.
4) Conocer la importancia del Plain English y su reflejo en inglés jurídico.
5) Conocer someramente la cultura e instituciones jurídicas de los países de habla inglesa en sí mismos y de forma contrastiva con las del español.
III. Objetivos procedimentales
6) Manejar y valorar recursos documentales para la comprensión, la producción o la traducción de textos especializados, del inglés al español y viceversa.
7) Apoyar, en lo relativo al inglés jurídico, a la dirección de viajes, ferias, misiones comerciales, etc., así como gestionar, organizar, interpretar, y redactar textos y documentos en lengua inglesa en registros jurídicos.
8) Ejercer como mediador lingüístico en ámbitos jurídicos entre hablantes nativos y no nativos del español y del inglés, etc.
9) Resumir, reformular y traducir del inglés al español y viceversa textos especializados en inglés o español.
10) Utilizar recursos informáticos y virtuales para la resolución de problemas lingüísticos en la interpretación o formulación de textos jurídicos.
11) Preparar y ofrecer presentaciones académicas orales sobre temas jurídicos en inglés.
12) Utilizar recursos informáticos para la confección de glosarios monolingües o bilingües relacionados con temas jurídicos.
13) Utilizar recursos virtuales para la obtención de información encaminada a la contextualización del lenguaje jurídico en inglés o a la comunicación de dicha información.
V. Objetivos actitudinales
14) Trabajar en equipo con profesionales del derecho y ámbitos afines.
15) Ser consciente de los contenidos que se precisan saber para desarrollar una investigación.
