Course context for academic year 2016-17

La asignatura "Derecho de la Unión Europea" es una materia obligatoria que se imparte en el primer cuatrimestre del cuarto curso del Grado en Derecho. Se encuentra en íntima conexión con la asignatura obligatoria de "Derecho Internacional Público", que se imparte en el segundo cuatrimestre del tercer curso, y con la asignatura optativa "Introducción a las Relaciones Internacionales", impartidas por el Área de Derecho Internacional Público y Relaciones Internacionales. Persigue como finalidad formativa, el conocimiento y análisis del origen y evolución del proceso de integración europea, los objetivos, principios y valores de la Unión Europea, así como sus Instituciones, sistema jurídico y su relación con los ordenamientos internos, su sistema jurisdiccional, la protección de los derechos fundamentales y el estatuto de ciudadanía. Esta asignatura contribuye al perfil profesional del título y al desarrollo de las competencias específicas y genéricas del mismo al ofrecer el conocimiento de la base de todo el ordenamiento europeo Los conocimientos adquiridos abren el camino para la investigación, el ejercicio profesional, la carrera diplomática o el acceso a distintos puestos de funcionarios públicos en el ámbito de la Unión Europea. Este aprendizaje, además, adquiere un carácter estratégico si se encamina hacia una mayor especialización posterior, aprovechando las nuevas oportunidades en el campo de las expectativas de creciente integración regional de carácter transfronterizo y las necesidades de internacionalización de las empresas, entidades públicas y todo tipo de organizaciones.
