Competencies and objectives

 

Course context for academic year 2017-18

Es una asignatura en la que se abordan contenidos conceptuales básicos de Paleontología, para estudiantes que cursan el grado de Geología, con la que el alumnado adquirirá una visión global de la Paleontología como Ciencia en sí misma y logrará interrelacionarla con el resto de disciplinas integrantes de las Ciencias de la Tierra y de la Vida y otras afines. Se obtiene también, mediante el programa elaborado, la capacidad de utilizar esta disciplina como herramienta fundamental de datación y correlación de los materiales que componen el registro de la historia del Planeta. También se aborda la historia del Planeta y de sus formas de vida desde su origen. Por último, se abordan también, en diferentes bloques temáticos, contenidos de actualidad en investigación básica y aplicada, como la relación entre cambios paleoambientales y extinciones o la conservación y gestión del patrimonio paleontológico.

  • CE1 : Acquire the fundamentals of geological terminology, nomenclature, agreements, scales and units.
  • CE10 : Use correlation techniques and interpret them.
  • CE31 : Be aware of the bibliographic resources for Geology.
  • CE6 : Recognise fossils and their use in dating and interpreting sedimentary material.
  • CE7 : Understand the history of the Earth and of Life from their origins to the present day.
  • CE8 : Understand the techniques for dating rocks and geological processes.

 

Generic UA Competences
