Competencies and objectives

 

Course context for academic year 2017-18

Impartida pel Departament de Filologia Catalana, la Literatura Catalana Medieval i Literatures Europees forma part del grup d'assignatures que constitueixen el Minor oferit pel Grau en Filologia Catalana i que permet els alumnes del grau completar la seua formació amb una sèrie de matèries optatives i els alumnes d'altres titulacions accedir a la Capacitació docent per a l'ensenyament en valencià. Es tracta d’una assignatura dissenyada amb dos propòsits fonamentals:


1. D’un banda, donar als estudiants del grau la possibilitat d’acostar-se, a partir de la literatura catalana medieval, a d'altres manifestacions literàries afins en el context europeu, de manera que la producció literària en català medieval s’emmarca en un context més ample, que ofereix possibilitats de contrast i d'anàlisi en relació amb produccions semblants procedents d'altres literatures.


2. D’altra banda, oferir als estudiants de la resta dels graus filològics que imparteix la Facultat de Filosofia i Lletres, la possibilitat de relacionar les manifestacions literàries medievals estudiades en el propi grau amb la literatura produïda en català i observar els punts de connexió i l’amplitud del context literari europeu.


L'assignatura és optativa tant per als estudiants del grau en Filologia catalana com per als dels graus Espanyol: Llengua i Literatures, Estudis Anglesos, Estudis Francesos, Estudis Àrabs i Islàmics. Té caràcter semestral i s’imparteix en el primer semestre del curs. Consta de 6 crèdits, dels quals 2,4 són presencials i 3,6 no presencials; alhora, dels presencials 1,8 són teòrics mentre que 0,6 tenen caràcter pràctic.


Dins dels plans d’estudis en què s’insereix, es justifica pel fet que una part essencial de la formació del filòleg ha de ser l’estudi sistemàtic de la història literària (principals etapes, corrents, gèneres, autors i obres) a través de l’anàlisi i de la valoració estètica i conceptual dels textos més representatius de cada moment històric, així com dels seus contextos de producció, amb especial referència a la seua aportació al cànon literari europeu.
Aquesta assignatura complementa les altres de literatura medieval catalana estudiades en el grau: Literatura Catalana, primeres grans obres (2n curs), Literatura catalana del segle XV (I) (3r curs) i Literatura catalana del segle XV (II)(4t curs).  Per altra banda, complementa les assignatures de literatura medieval que els alumnes han cursat en les seues pròpies titulacions:  literatura espanyola, francesa i anglesa, bàsicament i ve a arrodonir l’estudi introductori que es realitza en l’assignatura Introducció a la literatura catalana medieval de primer curs oferida als graus filològics que imparteix la Facultat de Filosofia i Lletres.


El perfil del filòleg especialitzat en català ha d'incloure les matèries de literatura catalana medieval, juntament amb les que el pla d’estudis dedica a l’estudi de la literatura moderna i contemporània, les relacions de la literatura catalana amb altres literatures, la literatura popular, el teatre, les relacions entre literatura, cultura i art i la didàctica de la llengua i literatura (en català).

  • CE5 : Capacity to interpret, produce and develop academic descriptions and arguments and/or technical reports related to the professional contexts that can be accessed with the degree qualification.

DEGREE IN CATALAN STUDIES

 

General Competences (CG)

  • CG1 : Capacity to master the key theories, perspectives and conceptualisations for constructing the theoretical framework of linguistic and literary disciplines applied to Catalan language and literature as an expert on the subject and in different professional profiles.
  • CG2 : Capacity to understand the role of language in the construction of human beings as active members of a linguistic and cultural community and relate this to the function of individuals in society.
  • CG3 : Capacity to develop reading, analysis and synthesis techniques.
  • CG4 : Capacity to manage and use the resources provided by the information and communications technologies and apply those to the language and literature industries.

 

General Competences acquired at University of Alicante (CGUA)

  • CGUA2 : Ability to use basic ICT tools at user level.
  • CGUA3 : Ability to communicate effectively and have linguistic understanding of one of the two official languages of the Region of Valencia (Spanish or Catalan) in their discipline.

 

Specific Competences (CE)

  • CE1 : Capacity to communicate in the Catalan language in communicative situations (oral and written), allowing fluid communication in the professional and academic areas in which the student will be working in the future, taking into account his/her knowledge of the historical, social, cultural and artistic reality of his/her context.
  • CE10 : Capacity to use the pertinent resources and materials for self-learning (bibliographies, dictionaries, reference works, terminological works, tutorials, new technologies) and transmit the information in the Catalan language.
  • CE11 : Be able to develop reading, analysis and synthesis techniques, formulate working hypotheses, demonstrate them with arguments and reach conclusions, as well as recognise and ensure the textual coherence (structure of the text, organisation of ideas, progression of information, use of keywords), to explain and argue any subject related to Catalan language and literature, thus achieving the role of expert, transmitter and adviser regarding the knowledge acquired.
  • CE12 : Capacity to understand, value and take advantage of multilingualism with an attitude favouring the standardisation of Catalan, to participate in cultural and linguistic diversity, as well as promoting it to ensure the better social development of the language.
  • CE3 : Capacity to understand the pragmatic, textual and discursive characteristics of the Catalan language to use, transmit and apply knowledge to the analysis, comprehension and production of Catalan in oral and written forms.
  • CE6 : Ability to use the standard model (and the different sub-standards) of the Catalan language, as well as understanding and knowing how to apply lexical creation and innovation mechanisms to adapt oneself to the communication needs of the modern world.
  • CE7 : Capacity to understand the historical trends of literature in the Catalan language and its context, to define the evolution of literary thinking in the Catalan language and its social impact.
  • CE8 : Capacity to understand the different epochs, movements, models and values described in Catalan literature, as well as the traditions in which they are set, the specific textual resources used, paying special attention to the comparative study of common and different elements, within the same or between different literary contexts.
  • CE9 : Capacity to identify the currents of literary criticism, their categories, concepts and nomenclature as a key factor in the development of the capacity to criticise and analyse text (literary, cinematographic, advertising), as regards the creative manifestation and reflection of the sociocultural context.

  • CP20 : Capacity to use the pertinent materials and resources: bibliographic repertories, dictionaries, works of reference, critical editions, translations and ICTs as an independent learner able to control one's own learning process and make the corresponding independent progress.

Specific objectives stated by the academic staff for academic year 2017-18

Objectius formatius:
1.    Acostar-se des d'una perspectiva comparatista a les tendències estètiques, els gèneres, els autors i les obres de les lletres catalanes medievals en relació amb els d’altres literatures europees del mateix període.
2.    Conéixer els trets més característics del context literari, social i cultural de l’Europa de l’edat mitjana.
3.    Conéixer alguns dels textos i autors més representatius a partir de la lectura i l’anàlisi comparada d'algunes obres.
4.   Conéixer la importància i la funció de les traduccions catalanes medievals de textos d’altres literatures europees del mateix període.
5.    Conéixer algunes de les aportacions bibliogràfiques específiques més rellevants sobre la matèria.
6.    Assolir un nivell alt en les tècniques d’anàlisi literària comparada de textos corresponents a l’àmbit de l’assignatura.
7.    Assolir un nivell alt de correcció lingüística i d’acurament en l’elaboració de textos escrits pertanyents al registre científic propi de la matèria.

Objectius específics aportats pel professorat:
1. Promoure en l'alumnat l'interés per la recerca en la cultura literària catalana de l'edat mitjana.
2. Estimular en l'alumnat la indagació de les relacions entre la literatura catalana medieval i les altres literatures romàniques, com també en relació amb altres manifestacions culturals ideològiques i artístiques de la mateixa època.
3. Promoure l'agilitat en la lectura comprensiva, comparativa i crítica de les obres proposades.
4. Motivar la creació de discursos orals i escrits de comunicació acadèmica per tal de verbalitzar i ser capaç de transmetre els continguts treballats a classe.
5. Fer servir correctament i amb eficàcia comunicativa la normativa (especialment la pronúncia però també l’ortografia, la gramàtica, la lexicosemàntica i la fraseologia)  que regula l’ús de la llengua en el registre formal de l’àmbit acadèmic, sobretot dels textos expositivoargumentatius (en el canal oral: exposició, debat, lectura expressiva i entrevista; en el registre escrit: informe i treball acadèmic).
6. Fer servir correctament les convencions ortotipogràfiques del registre formal escrit de l’àmbit acadèmic.
