Clases teóricas y prácticas

BRITISH HISTORY & CULTURE Class time will be dedicated mainly to lectures, with the use of transparencies and video. In addition, students will be encouraged to prepare discussions and debates with guided reading from the recommended bibliography, as well as selected use of material from the Internet and other sources. U.S. HISTORY & CULTURE Class time will be dedicated mainly to interactive lectures. Students will be encouraged to participate with material they have found on the web or from the recommended bibliography. The lecturer will make use of Power Point presentations.

Trabajos bibliográficos

U.S. HISTORY & CULTURE Students will receive extra credit for presenting to the class information found on the internet or other sources, which responds to questions formulated in class. They will also be encouraged to work in groups to write questions for the final exam based on the material covered in class and presented by the lecturer and students. These questions will form part of a corpus of possible exam questions which will be made available on the virtual campus.

Instrumentos y criterios de evaluación (2009-10)

Evaluación continua, examen final

There will be a separate exam for each part of the course (U.S and British). Each exam will have the same format: Section 1: Short answer and /or multiple choice questions. Section 2: Longer answer questions The final grade will be obtained from the average of the two parts. If students fail overall (i.e., average less than 5.0)they are only required to take the part(s) in which they have obtained less than a 5.0. In addition, if students obtain less than 4.0 in any part, they will not receive a pass regardless of the overall average. Class participation will also be taken into account in determining the final grade. (In the case of U.S. History & Culture, students are obliged to participate)
